Three Important Facts about Climate:
1. Portugal has a warm temperate climate. The only difference is in winter, which is considered the wet season. In winter, the average daily maximum temperature is about 16 C (61 degrees F). There are only about 14 dry days per month during the winter.
2. In the summer, Portugal has as many as 29 dry days and the weather is warm and comfortable with the breeze from the Atlantic Ocean. The average temperature is 25 degrees C / 78 degrees F.
3. In the winter there are 5-6 hours of sunshine per day and in the summer there are approximately 10-12 hours of sunshine per day.

1. Portugal is fighting soil erosion... which is the removal of soil by the wind or water.
2. Portugal is putting laws in place to save the cork trees. Portugal is the largest producer of cork products in the world.
